Evangel Life Center created the Faith Community Network (FCN) in the late 1990s as a means to coordinate area churches’ resources in order to minister to the under-served of Greater Madison. Its humble beginnings of a few stuffed grocery bags on a shelf have expanded through the years to a full-fledged bi-weekly food pantry, Bread of Life Food Pantry, and a benevolence program that offers financial assistance to members of the community exhibiting legitimate financial distress.

The various leaders have cultivated strong partnerships with several churches and other local agencies, including Second Harvest Food Bank, in order to broaden the populations we serve. These area churches, including our own, facilitate annual or even bi-annual food drives and fundraisers. The needs are growing in our community so we are excited about the potential opportunities ahead to not only expand our network and grow our resources, but to also provide additional services that will better serve and bless our community.

The heart of the FCN is the compassion of Jesus; the backbone is our strategic partnerships; the joy is in serving our beloved community members; and the testimony is the hope and empowerment with which our clients leave each appointment. Jesus emphasized the responsibility and priority for His followers to care for under-served by saying we are actually doing it “to Him.” Charity really is “the more excellent way.”
